Reporting to the Lead Program Officer for Quality, the Program Officer will monitor local APS programs for compliance with the Bureau of Population, Migration, and Refugees (PRM) Afghan Parolee Support Program and LIRS standards to ensure the provision of timely and quality services to clients.

This temporary position will be full-time, fully remote with a contract from September 2021 through March 31, 2022.

Widely recognized for our expertise in implementing federal programs on behalf of refugees and migrants in the United States, LIRS resettles refugees, reunites children with their families or provides loving homes for them, conducts policy advocacy, and advances the protection and rights of vulnerable migrants.

DUTIES

  • Work with the Lead Program Officer for Quality to establish a remote monitoring and evaluation process to monitor the LIRS network for compliance with the Afghan Parolee Support Program
  • Extensively coordinate and conduct affiliate remote site monitoring visits that involve meeting with program staff, reviewing client case files, and interviewing refugee families.
  • Write detailed site visit reports, including recommendations and action plans related to issues of service delivery, documentation, and/or reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with Refugee and Migrant Services' units, departments within LIRS, and affiliate partners to learn and share resources and best practices.
  • Collect data related to monitoring outcomes and trends to inform programmatic needs
  • Execute other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in social work, social sciences, or related field; preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in non-profit immigration or social services programs. Experience working with the Reception and Placement or related programs is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with refugees, immigrants, or limited English speakers, required.
  • Experience in interpreting contract compliance, developing and delivering training, and providing technical assistance to service providers and staff.
  • Strong writing skills, with the ability to write and edit reports and clearly interpret technical requirements.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, knowledge in database management, and other computer applications.
  • Deep commitment to LIRS' core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Experience with and commitment to working in a very diverse workforce.
