Reporting to the Senior Program Officer, the Program Specialist for the Afghan Parolee Support Program will support the work of the Resettlement unit to fulfill the contractual requirements of the Department of State Bureau of Populations, Refugees and Migration's (PRM) new Afghan Parolee Support (APS) program. This work will be carried out through data tracking, analysis and management, reporting, and management of LIRS systems. The Program Specialist will work closely with the Resettlement unit to ensure data and outcomes are collected and used to inform programmatic decisions. This position requires a strong skillset in data management, reporting, and refugee and immigrant programs. This temporary position will be full-time, fully remote with a contract from September 2021 through March 31, 2022.

  • Contribute to the successful achievement of APS Cooperative Agreement contractual requirements and programmatic outcomes
  • Regularly complete data entry, tracking, and analysis of network-wide data
  • Contribute to LIRS programmatic reports
  • Assist with the regular communication, dissemination, and tracking of financial and programmatic information to the LIRS network
  • Collect and analyze data to inform programmatic decisions working in tandem with the Resettlement team
  • Assist with regular data quality assurance processes to ensure accurate reporting and trend tracking.
  • Review and track the submission of affiliate APS reporting to LIRS
  • Maintain close relationships with LIRS's IRIS and IT departments in order to ensure continual quality reporting and improvements of LIRS systems
  • Support the maintenance of the APS space on the LIRS extranet with current tools, updated forms, and resources
  • Support the Resettlement team with the creation and dissemination of resources to the LIRS network
  • Manage contact lists and systems for programmatic information
  • Work collaboratively across teams and units
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Undergraduate degree in social work, social sciences, non-profit management, or related field.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in non-profit management and social services programs.
  • Experience working with the Department of State's Reception and Placement Program required.
  • Experience working with refugees, immigrants, or limited English speakers, preferred.
  • Ability to write and edit reports and clearly interpret technical requirements.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and Excel, knowledge in database management and other computer applications, required. Experience with SharePoint and Salesforce preferred. This position will require managing several web-based platforms including an LIRS extranet website.
